| Tyng Success For All Program | Members of the Rotary Club of Peoria spend 12 to 14 hours per week tutoring and mentoring to students at Tyng School who are reading below their grade level. |
| Sterling Merit Banquet | This annual event honors the top 8% of graduating seniors from eleven area high schools for their outstanding academic achievement. The banquet is held each year on the 2nd Friday in May. Other Rotary club sponsors are The Rotary Clubs of Peoria-North, East Peoria and Chillicothe. The Rotary club sponsors are assisted by the Journal Star. |
| Christmas in April | The Rotary Club of Peoria serves as an Adopt-A-House sponsor for Christmas in April-Peoria. On the 4th Friday of April, club members will rennovate a home of an elderly, disabled, or disadvantaged person who could not otherwise afford to make needed home improvements. |
| LISENBY'S LATRINES | The International Service Committee of the Rotary Club of Peoria will endeavor to raise $3,000 to build adequate latrines for the elementary school in San Jose-mi, Paraguay. This project is in partnership with Lynne & Jerry Lisenby who are Peace Corps volunteers in the town. The school has 96 students - all students and teachers currently use one primitive latrine. Cash donations will be collected at Friday Rotary meetings on October 13, 20 & 27. Our club will provide the funding; the people of San Jose-mi will make the bricks and construct the latrines. Sanitation is a serious problem in Paraguay. Please help. For futher information contact Martha Herm or the Rotary office. |
